About One Challenge

We are a mission organisation with a clear vision, a focused mission, and a passion for seeing Christ’s church thrive in every nation.

Our Vision

Healthy Churches · Working Together · To Reach All Nations
The church belongs to Jesus Christ — he promised to build it, and at the end of time it will stand perfect, described in Revelation 21 as a beautiful bride. Here and now, the lives of disciples are being transformed into his image (2 Corinthians 3:18), as Christ’s character is formed in us.
We believe that healthy churches nurture their people — bound together in the love of Jesus, looking outward over a needy world, holding forth the word of life through service, witness and proclamation.
The Gospel is a message of reconciliation: first between God and his people, and then between people themselves. As barriers fall, collaboration on Christ’s business grows — along with trust, respect and love. Healthy churches working together will surely have a greater impact on this world.
And the goal is clear: to reach all nations. God is glorified as his church grows and communities are transformed, one life at a time.

Our Mission

One Challenge’s role is to act as motivators and mobilisers — influencing others to active engagement in the Great Commission.

It is to church leaders that God sends us. As we mobilise them, we want to ensure they are godly and effective, because such leaders carry the greatest influence over the health and direction of the church. We include all Christian leaders who contribute to the spiritual growth of the church and the discipling of their nation.

Everything we do aims toward a single ultimate goal: the church engaged in the Great Commission. Our mission is complete when national leaders have accepted responsibility for their own — and each other’s — spiritual and leadership development, and have moved passionately into their God-given role in taking the Gospel to all nations.

To mobilise godly and effective church leaders to reach all nations.
03

Our Strategy

Every context is unique, but the process One Challenge follows is consistent wherever we work. Using research, motivation, and training, we mobilise church leaders to reach their nations and beyond.
"Even zeal is not good without knowledge, and the one who acts hastily sins." — Proverbs 19:2 (HCSB)

God is always at work (John 5:17).

Before we begin ministry in any new place, we invest time learning its history, culture and current spiritual landscape — so that we can work wisely for the future. Our Global Research Team supports ministry teams in this vital first step. Time spent in research is never wasted.
Christian leaders called by God already carry a heart for the church of Jesus Christ. When we share what our research reveals, we can help them catch a vision for the communities around them — and beyond. One of our core values is multiplication: motivated leaders lead their people to a different future, and our efforts are multiplied to God's glory.
Around the world, Christian leaders are either helped by training and resources — or hindered by the lack of them. One Challenge brings wide experience in vision setting, church planting, disciple-making, leadership development, and member care. It is our joy to help others enter, and thrive in, the service of the Lord.
The one challenge facing Christ's church is the Great Commission itself — and the calling to bring glory to God as increasing numbers of people come to worship him through Jesus Christ. One Challenge has workers in many countries, and seeing the worldwide company of Gospel witnesses grow is our greatest joy.
What we do may look like others' work. How we do it reflects who we are.

Our Values

Team

People are built for relationship. OC believes that colleagues working in teams do better work — and find more support, creativity and resilience than those working alone. Teams build ideas, defend innovation, and carry each other through hard seasons.

Family

One Challenge is committed to the wellbeing of families among our workers. Long-term, fruitful ministry is only sustainable where family life is healthy and honoured.

Partnership

Collaboration is OC’s preferred way of working. With centres across the world sending out workers, and new opportunities arising regularly, we partner together to take them up. These partnerships reflect the “co-worker” principle the apostle Paul wrote about throughout his letters.

Multiplication

Paul taught Timothy to pass his teachings to others, so they in turn could pass them on (2 Timothy 2:2).

That principle shapes everything at One Challenge. We work primarily with leaders, so what they learn is multiplied into the lives of those they lead — and beyond.

Servanthood

Just as Jesus came not to be served but to serve, One Challenge personnel keep this at the forefront of their thinking. The most important people to us are those we support and encourage. Their success in ministry becomes ours.

Innovation

We place few restrictions on our people. If a situation demands a new form of ministry, there is freedom to try it. Failure is part of risk — and faith can be spelled r-i-s-k. One Challenge has been the seedbed of new ministries with international impact. We want that to continue.

What We Believe

One Challenge holds to the historic Christian faith, summarised here:

01

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible and authoritative Word of God.

02

We believe in one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

03

We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ — his virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension, and personal return in power and glory.

04

We believe that regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential for the salvation of sinful humanity.

05

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

06

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost — the saved to life, the lost to damnation.

07

We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in Jesus Christ.
